As promised last week, some pics from the Lakeway petanque group get together, on the last day of 2006.
The Lakeway park is about 25 mi W of Austin. Geo Durell, an active local resident has been the driving force behind these new courts, with permanent signs, scoreboards and game instructions.
On one of the pictures you see well known juggler Arsène Dupin teaching one of the youngsters present.
No doubt they were all having fun!

I've played on the Lakeway pétanque courts. There are two like the one pictured. They are the best courts I've seen in the U.S. or in Europe. The players usually in attendance on Sunday afternoons display a high level of competence. Yet, they are cordial and welcome novices--showing them how to play better, and if Arsene is there, how to juggle.
