Petanque in the village

There is a clear tendency back to traditional village life in our country.
Instead of plopping down thousands of homes with a couple of concrete malls around them, developers are trying to recreate the traditional pattern of a central market place with smaller businesses and areas for neighbors to get together.

Seaside in the panhandle of Florida is one of the best known examples of this trend. So is Celebration, close to Orlando.
Guess what? In both towns, pétanque is actively played.

Here is another new development, Norton Commons, in Prospect, Kentucky (close to Louisville), where pétanque courts will soon be a magnet for socializing. The boules are on the way.
